MV AGUSTA announced the departure of Massimo Tamburini

Varese, Italy, December 3 2008

MV Agusta announced today that the head of Design Massimo Tamburini will leave the company on 31 December 2008.

Massimo Tamburini

Tamburini started working with Cagiva early 1985 and heads the center engineering and design MV Agusta, Cagiva Centro Ricerche (CRC) in San Marino for more than 13 years.

I have spent a large part of my career in motorcycle design for Cagiva and MV Agusta, and I am extremely proud of the beautiful and exciting motorcycles, we have created.

Although my decision to leave was extremely difficult to take, I have confidence in the talented designers and engineers from San Marino to continue the tradition of excellence of MV Agusta brand. I had the privilege to do so dreams during those years with Cagiva and MV Agusta and I look forward to seeing the great and beautiful things that happen in society.

Tamburini plan to continue to exercise his profession as a designer outside the field of motorcycle and spend more time on other subjects.

Massimo Tamburini is one of the legends of the motorcycle industry and leaves a great legacy for MV Agusta

said Claudio Castiglioni, President of MV Agusta and director of research and development.

His legacy and his vision will now be worn by the team, which he established and led for many years. Although his presence will be missed, we respect his decision to retire and we wish him all the best for the future.

The acquisition of MV Agusta by Harley-Davidson might be one reason for the departure.

Massimo Tamburini is for me the greatest motorcycle designer and has its winners the MV Agusta F4 and heavy (as seen in the header of this blog), the Ducati 916 s and Paso.

For the record, Tamburini is also the "TA" of BIMOTA (with Valerio Bianchi, Giuseppe Morri), and had to disciple Pierre Terblanche.

MV Agusta: The kit available Bestial

If you remember the 2007 World wheels (go, it was not so far), you recall that one of the major attractions at the booth MV Agusta MV Agusta was the brutal, with a kit designed and developed by Yacouba: The MV Agusta Bestial

Well aware that Yacouba Galle (who is also a test in the magazine Motorcycle & Motards) decided to market this kit: a first series of 20 numbered kits will be delivered as early as November at a price of € 6 390.

MV Agusta Bestiale

My opinion is very divided on the marketing of this kit:

I think the initiative taken by Yacouba extremely courageous, and I support him in this process because the adventure is certainly very complicated and perilous. But why on earth have taken a brutal MV Agusta as a basis? This bike, we must design Massimo Tamburini, (a tenor author also masterpieces like the Ducati 916 and MV Agusta F4) has, in my opinion, not to be improved.

Why not deal with motorcycles more insipid? Distributed more widely? A kit for Yacouba Japanese roadsters would doom, that's for sure!

Anyway, bravo to Yacouba, and if want to buy a kit cattle, hurry up: there will not be for everyone!
