Pierre Terblanche leaves Ducati
Pierre Terblanche, director of design DUCATI past 10 years, has left the company bolognese to mount his own design studio.
His arrival at Ducati has coïncidée with the acquisition of DUCATI to CAGIVA by the U.S. investment fund TPG (Texas Pacific Group).
Originally from South Africa, he had previously worked at CRC (Cagiva Research Center) under the leadership of Massimo Tamburini. His achievements have not all been unanimity among the general public because of a design without cocession. If the Multistrada has not shocked by his style is that it opened a new category: the trails hypersportifs. The renovation design of the range hypersportive of the mark, the 916 it was a real outcry. The replacement, the 999, failed to mention the masterpiece created by Tamburini. The student failed to exceed the master ... The last project hypersportif of the mark has been assigned to Gianfranco Fabbro, who has obviously been instructed to reconnect with the design of late as 916.
His latest projects, Sportclassics are more consensual, and Terblanche was successful exercise of neoclassicism and modernizing the style typical of many years DUCATI 70.
Pierre Terblanche said of his departure as follows:
"I would like to do new things. I have my own design studio and while I will always bike I would also work on other things, maybe boats. At the bottom of my heart I am a designer, not a director and it will give me the chance to do new things. "
Here is a list of accomplishments by Pierre Terblanche:
Ducati Multistrada
Ducati Hypermotard
Ducati ST3
Ducati MH900e
Ducati1000 GT
Ducati Paul Smart 1000
